How The Welly Walk came about The Welly Walk is the brainchild of Olivia McPike. Olivia who is currently Miss Galaxy UK is a make up artist and has been entering beauty competitions since she was 18 years old. Through her Pageant work she has been volunteering her time to Sunshine Wishes Children’s Charity in granting wishes for sick and terminally ill kids in Scotland. Olivia has also been helping to deliver much needed essential food/care packages to families and individuals through the Covid-19 pandemic. Sunshine Wishes Children’s Charity also supplied activity packs to nurseries in the north of Glasgow which allowed children an activity whilst the country was in lockdown. The charity have also supplied over 120 pair of welly boots to local nurseries which allows the kids to play outside even when it’s raining. It was while helping to deliver the wellies that Olivia thought about the work Sunshine Wishes Children’s Charity provides in the local communities, she thought it would be great if there was some way that the kids could say a huge ‘ thank you ‘ to the charity. Something then sparked in her mind regarding the wellies, ‘ what if we could get the kids to walk a million steps in their wellies, to say a million thanks to Sunshine Wishes Children’s Charity ‘ And so ‘ The Welly Walk ‘ was born. ck here to edit. |
